“5 Tips To Detox Your Home
By Angela Richardson

Making the switch to non-toxic household cleaners can somewhat be a challenge.  Deciding what non-toxic brand is the best product to use is key to helping you make this important decision.  You only have to walk the aisle of your favorite store to find several different non-toxic cleaners but choosing the right product for your household cleaning needs can sometimes prove to be a challenge.  According to Health Magazine and the journal of Environmental Science and Technology, your home may contain 400 chemicals, some of which are non-toxic and untested.  Taking the precaution needed to protect yourself, your family and your home from these harmful chemicals is important.

Enter PUR Home Household Cleaners and Laundry Detergent.  We’ve got you covered with our range of biodegradable, non-toxic cleaners.

Tip One:
Research

Look at the label of your favorite product!  What are the ingredients listed?  Do a little research and find out what they are so that you can make the most informed decision about the products you use.

Tip Two:
Gradually switch your cleaners

Sometimes making the switch isn’t easy.  It’s hard to part from the products you’ve traditionally used or have become accustomed to.  Take one product that you use and make the switch.  Use your new non-toxic cleaner for no less than 6 months.

Tip Three:
Fall Cleaning

We’ve all heard of Spring Cleaning!  Let’s face it, our spaces need deep cleaning more than once a year.  I like to deep clean my home at least twice a year.  We clean daily and weekly on a consistent basis but deep cleaning should also be done at least twice a year.  This means deconstructing the home and getting rid of unused items (donate if you can!), decluttering spaces, fixing broken furniture and replacing air filters.  Fall Cleaning definitely extends outside the home so don’t forget to look around your yard and declutter as much as you can!

Tip Four:
Use a schedule

I love to schedule as many cleaning tasks as possible so that way I can keep track of what needs to be done and on what day.  If you have children and teenagers this is a great way for them to keep track of their daily or weekly chores.  Plus it gets the whole family involved!

Tip Five:
Do a little at a time

Detoxing the home is a process.  Start with your household cleaners until you’ve switched every product you use to a more safe and effective product.  You’ll most likely enjoy the experience of a green clean and will begin switching out other products as you see fit.

Most importantly–have fun!

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been addicted to Clorox cleaner, the smell is so strong and burns my eyes. I will use the information you provided in your LIVE presentation and tips above to help with my transition. Thanks @coachtwy
