THINKING ABOUT MY PURPOSE

POINT TO PONDER:

Every temptation is an opportunity to do good.

VERSE TO REMEMBER:

β€œGod blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
JAMES 1:12 (NLT)

QUESTION TO CONSIDER:

What Christlike character quality can I develop by defeating the most common temptation I face?

  • Wow wow Wow, Temptation is all around us, and the author asks, “What Christlike Character can I develop to defeat the most common temptation I face? The author also shares that Christ’s character is most accurately depicted in the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are found in Galations 5:22.

For me, when I think of temptations, I think of FOOOOOOOD! So to answer the author’s question, the Christlike character quality I can develop to defeat my most common temptation is self-control!!

It helps to know that self control was a quality of Christ, as I know Christ lives within me. So, if HE is within me, I too have the power to control myself even when when surrounded by all those naughty treats :).

This was an amazing chapter as it described how the devil is predictable, he uses the same 4 steps to lead you into temptation. Knowing those steps and watching for them, gives you the upper hand. You can predict his moves and out wit him with the power of Christ within!
