Discipline + Control = Results… Now just Add ‘Self’

By January 27, 2018Be Inspired, Divas Who Pray

Happy Sunday Divas!!

I hope and pray your week was great.  Even if it presented a few obstacles along the way, you made it to Sunday. Also, thanks so much for the comments. I love hearing back from you all about God’s Word and how it blessed you. Please keep the comments coming 😉

Discipline ->SELF<- Control

1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”

When I read this scripture I think about how I live my life. I want to lead people to Christ by what I say and what I do. I also want to lead a life where I have self-control and discipline in every aspect, even when it comes to healthy living.

Self – Check

How is your lifestyle viewed by the people in your sphere of influence? Do you project yourself as someone who has self-control and self-discipline in every aspect of life?

Hmmm… 😐 (I’m sitting here thinking about all that holiday grubbing I did… 😯 )

Well, in all transparency…I would have to say I have been lacking self-control and discipline when it comes to eating and working out. This was confirmed when I weighed myself a few days ago.  😥

Okay…..I’m done crying over that number on the scale. How do we move forward?

One of the main ingredients to achieving our goals is mastering discipline and self-control Click To Tweet.
It all ties in with renewing the mind

Galatians 5:22-23 talks about the Fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). As a believer and follower of Christ, The Holy Spirit lives inside of us, therefore we are capable of self-control, including control over our appetite/cravings.

God’s Word is truth and life, and I believe I can conquer this weakness.

Galatians 5:1 says that I am to ‘stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.’

Divas, we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength, and whom has freed us from the yoke of bondage (whatever that might be for you). We just need to confess and believe God’s Word as truth about our lives. By reading, believing and confessing this truth:

  • we will be victorious.
  • we will lose the weight we have set to lose,
  • we will make healthy meal choices,
  • we will hydrate with water every day,
  • we will plan to workout everyday (even if it is just a short walk) and,
  • we will see results.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you with thanksgiving for all you have provided us especially your word. We are also thankful that we have been made free from the yoke of bondage through Christ Jesus.

As we continue on this journey of achieving our goals and living a healthier life we ask for your help and guidance on exercising discipline and self-control in all things especially as we work towards our goals. Please give us the grace needed to discipline our bodies and keep our food consumption under control. Your Word says that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength, therefore we move forward on this truth and continue towards the prize.

God your Word says that Your Holy Spirit promise to work in us, giving us the desire and the ability to act and live with self-control and self-discipline. And we thank you God for Your grace which is renewed every day and your spirit that helps us to to live self-controlled, and godly lives. In all these things we ask and confess according to your will.
Amen

The timing of this post was perfect, as I am working on disciplining myself in several different area of my life. As long as I continue to lean on God as I press toward my goals, I will be successful. It is so important to stay in line with him and check yourself on areas of improvement. Thank you!

Felicia, you are so right. I really believe discipline and self-control are things that we will forever be learning and practicing in various aspects of our life. One area for me was my mouth (not just eating LOL). I would pop-off at the mouth about anything…then I got several different messages about keeping quiet. T.D. Jakes even had a message about being quiet (shut up!). I was like..”Okay Lord…I hear You.” The Journey is Real! LOL
