Tis the season for alterations!

By December 14, 2018Seaux Seaux Fab, Uncategorized

Happy Holidays Divas and tis the season for parties! Whether it’s an office party or a New Year’s Eve soiree we are all on the hunt for that perfect outfit on a budget for the occasion. Christmas gift shopping can be expensive and why add more stress on yourself about the cost of a new outfit when you can alter a garment in your closet. So my solution is revamp a dress or pants with alterations to get a totally new look for less. Alterations have the power to take a regular garment and transform it into something that looks and feels amazing. Although proper fit is the primary reason for tailoring, alterations can also help to modernize your clothes to evolve with your sense of style. Here are a couple ideas you can bring to your tailor for that next holiday event!

BRIDESMAID

We invest so much money in bridesmaid dresses; Some we love, others we only wear because we love the bride.  😀 Seaux why not get more use out the dress by changing the length, neckline, and/or sleeves. Take a strapless dress and some matching fabric to create a chic halter neckline. Or a flowy, A-line gown could get taken in for a tighter, pencil fit. Your imagination is the limit! I brought this bridesmaid dress to my awesome designer Kristine and with a simple strap across the chest it change the look of the dress. Of course I had to style it with my plated belt. 😉

STRUCTURED PANTS

Having my pants altered is always a given because of my waist to butt/hips ratio.  😕 I decided to go a little crazy and have these pants altered with buckles on the bottom leg portion of the pants. Kristine my seamstress) really out did herself with these pants because the fit is impeccable! It gives the pants a totally new sleek look.

Great ideas!! If it’s something like adding buttons that’s easy but… since I don’t sew … even getting something hemmed or possibly redesigned can cost a fortune!!

I have yet to find a pair of pants that fit both my hips and waist..whether my weight is up or down. I sew a little so sometimes if the pants aren’t lined I’ll alter them myself. Otherwise I go to a tailor.

Thanks so much…having a great relationship with my tailor helps because I can bounce ideas off her and she doesn’t think I’m crazy 😁😒

I have my clothes altered mainly to shorten the length or take up in the upper body. Sometimes alterations can cost me just as much as purchasing a new outfit. I love the tips on accessorizing and adding bling.
