Everytime I make a Blue Smoothie, a Smoothie Bowl, or even blue pancakes, I’m asked what’s that blue powder. So, today, I decided to formally answer that question with a blog post.
The blue powder that’s full of power is an Organic Plant Based Superfood called
“BLUE SPIRULINA”.
THE BENEFITS
I sometimes add it to my meals because of it’s ability to improve digestion & your overall bowel health. But listen, do your research sis, Spirulina is not just great for your gut, but it is also great source of dietary protein, B-vitamins and iron.
Health nuts use it for weight loss, but you might also be surprised to know it’s used for the management of ADHD, Diabetes, stress, anxiety, depression and PMS and honestly a whole host of other women’s health issues.
When foods have bright colors that is big indicator of high antioxidants. Blue Spirulina is an excellent source of potent antioxidants and anti-inflammatory chemicals that can benefit your brain health! Yea sis they say it improves your memory, so girl I need this stuff. LOL!
On top of all of this it is said it also helps in lowering cholesterol. So, do you see why it’s a SUPER food? It does SO MUCH in just 1 teaspoon a day?
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
You may be wondering what it tastes like! I don’t taste it AT ALL, there’s no taste to it at all, unlike the regular green spirulina; At least not the brand I now use.
WHAT BRAND DO YOU USE AND HOW CAN I GET IT?
I use the same brand I use for my Caramel Vegan Creamer “The Reserve”. I found them online, and begged them to off my audience 30% off all of their superfoods, that’s their speciality sis!! (click here) to check out their site, but be sure to use FITFYNEFAB30 while you’re there to receive 30% off your order!! Yup, a whole 30 for our FFF divas!!
If you want to try blue spirulina, I’ve provided the recipe to my smoothie bowl directly below, but it’s really easy just add a teaspoon of it to anything, you don’t taste it!
If you found this post helpful, please leave me a comment below! I would love to hear from you!
- 1 scoop of Salted Caramel Vega One protein powder
- 1-1/2 cup of ice (I use a lot to make it thick - since it's a bowl, not just a smoothie)
- 1 cup of water (you can use coconut milk or any plant based milk you like)
- 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon of Organic NON-GMO Spirulina
- 1-2 teaspoons of vegan caramel creamer
- blueberries
- peanut butter granola from Trader Joes
- Coconut Flakes
- Chia Seeds
- Add ice and water to your blender
- Next add banana, spirulina, and creamer
- Your last addition should always be your protein powder so it's not stuck at the bottom of the blender
- Blend until thick and smoothe
- Pour into a bowl, and add your fav toppings!
- Have fun with your toppings and Enjoy your Super Food!!

Yum! So many great things to try! I am so excited about Learning how to eat right!
Thank you for sharing. I used to take spirulina but the taste was too overpowering. Good to know that this one doesn’t have a taste. I think I’ll head over and make a purchase. Plus, the color is beautiful 🤩
The color is so vibrant and pretty. I’ve never tried spirulina but will definitely give it a try. This for the information and for getting us that discount.
