WELCOME TO INSPIRATION NATION
WHERE WE WILL REVIEW 1 chapter of Brian Tracey’s book, “Eat That Frog” each day in FABruary
The Cliff Notes from today’s reading:
“Chapter 13: IDENTIFY YOUR KEY CONSTRAINTS”
Whatever you have to do, there is always a limiting factor that determines how quickly and well you get it done. Your job is to study the task and the limiting factor. You must then focus all of your energies on alleviating that single choke point.
1: INDENTIFYING THE LIMITING FACTOR
This limiting factor can be a person whose help you need, a resource that you require, a weakness or something else diva. It is your job to find it, it is always there. Finding it usually brings about more progress in a shorter period than any other single activity
2: THE 80/20 RULE APPLIED TO CONSTRAINTS
80% of the factors holding you back from achieving your goals are internal (within yourself). Only 20% are external.
3: LOOK INTO YOURSELF
Keep asking, “What sets the speed at which I get the results I want?”
4: STRIVE FOR ACCURACY
The failure to identify the correct constraint, or the identification of the wrong constraint, can you lead you off in the wrong direction. You can end up solving the wrong problem
KEY TAKE-A-WAYS from Chapter 13: IDENTIFY YOUR KEY CONSTRAINTS
1. There’s always something that stops your forward progress. That something is called a, “constraint“.
2. It’s important to not only identify your constraint, but to also work towards a work-a-round or resolution to your constraint.
3. Make sure when you are attempting to identify your constraint(s) that you are accurate! Solving the WRONG problem is a waste of time and money.
4. 80% of constraints are INWARD! Look inside yourself for your limiting factors.

I’m Nicole Twyman, a native New Orleanian, who has lived all across the US! Although, my small family of 4 currently calls Los Angeles, CA home. I am a proud 40+ year old mom of a wonderfully energetic and theatrical daughter, and a handsome, scholarly athlete!
While I have worked in corporate America as a certified senior project / program / portfolio manager for Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, Procter & Gamble & IBM, my passion is service. It has always been my desire to live a life of service to others; which I took every opportunity to explore as an active member of many of my church’s ministries and of my public service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
Well, now I am over the top excited to have the opportunity to serve divas through my very own ministry, Fit, Fyne & Fabulous.
My dream is to become a Group Exercise Instructor and have classes. My internal constraint is wrestling with this Group Ex course I am taking. Their is so much science involved…I am not a fan of science. My external constraint is confirming a location to do it. But I keep telling myself that I will be confident in my abilities! If God is for me who can be against me, not even myself. So I shall persevere! I made it through my Personal Trainer course, I will make it through this one.
This is an awesome goal! Leap and the net will appear!
Awww Thank you!!!
Ohhhhhhh my goodness! This speaks to EVERYTHING I’m dealing with right now. My biggest internal constraint is consistency and procrastination…at least I think. I tend to allow everything else to take priority over what I need to do for me. My external constraint is chronic pain. I really have learned that I have to talk to myself and remind myself that the longer I procrastinate and allow other things to become more important then the less importance I put on working through helping myself to get back to feeling well and being able to do more things.
This chapter really spoke to me and gave me pause for a moment of true reflection. Can I do more for me? Absolutely!
Yes you can and this blog post is helping us reevaluate our lives!!!
Constraints : I would say my hectic schedule 🙂
But I’ve made some changes and I will continue to.
Way to go on making those necessary changes. I pray that God will continue to give you the strength to make even more.
Thank You 🙂
You are welcome DIVA!
My constraints is my lack of consistently prioritizing my tasks. When I plan and prioritize my day I get more done. I just have to get out and stay out of my own way. Im working on it daily.
