Curcumin (which gives turmeric it’s bright yellowish appearance) was tested side by side with fluoxetine (an antidepressant) in a 6-week study that was conducted on patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Over the course of the study, findings reeled that cur cumin, had more positive effect than the fluoxetine. In fact, the study concluded that curcumin could be used as a safe modality for treatment in people with MDD without simultaneous suicidal or psychotic disorders
The problem with taking an antidepressant like Prozac is that you may experience an onslaught of side effects. People can experience stomach bleeding, difficulty breathing, or thoughts of suicide. Turmeric on the other hand doesn’t have any side effects and is beneficial for the entire body. You could be improving your digestion and combating depression at the same time!

I’m Nicole Twyman, a native New Orleanian, who has lived all across the US! Although, my small family of 4 currently calls Los Angeles, CA home. I am a proud 40+ year old mom of a wonderfully energetic and theatrical daughter, and a handsome, scholarly athlete!
While I have worked in corporate America as a certified senior project / program / portfolio manager for Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft, Procter & Gamble & IBM, my passion is service. It has always been my desire to live a life of service to others; which I took every opportunity to explore as an active member of many of my church’s ministries and of my public service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
Well, now I am over the top excited to have the opportunity to serve divas through my very own ministry, Fit, Fyne & Fabulous.
Is there something that I can substitute for blood Orange as we do not have any in my area?
Hi @Wennifer Cameron. Try a Navel orange or any type of sweet orange. Let me know what you think sis.
